  由於科技的蓬勃發展,智慧型手機的普及率越來越高,目前智慧型手機 內建的中文輸入法,使用者必須在觸控螢幕上進行個別按鈕的觸碰做輸入,如何提升單手輸入文字的速度與正確率成為一項議題。智慧型手機內建的感測裝置除了觸控螢幕外,還有感測角速度改變的陀螺儀,但目前大多應用在體感遊戲的操作上,並無任何中文輸入法方面的應用。 本研究開發一個以注音輸入為基礎的輸入介面,利用智慧型手機內建的 陀螺儀偵測手機的傾斜角度,作為輔助輸入法的選字依據,將六個候選字排列成三行兩列的方式,各候選字分別對應不同的傾斜角度,受測者以傾斜手機的方式進行候選字的選取,並開發一實測軟體紀錄輸入速度與錯誤率。 首次實測比較傳統選字方法與陀螺儀輔助選字方法,結果顯示傳統選字方法有較高的輸入速度與低錯誤率,為評估受測者是否能夠藉由熟悉陀螺儀 輔助選字方法而提高輸入速度與減低錯誤率,讓受測者接受連續三天的文字輸入練習後進行第二次實測。結果顯示受測者在熟悉陀螺儀輔助選字方法後能夠顯著提升文字輸入速度與減少錯誤選字的發生。因此,對於本研究所開發的陀螺儀輔助選字輸入法而言,操作熟悉度是至關重要的。 The rapid development of technologies related to mobile phone has changed the demography of mobile phone users. Smartphone has become a necessity when people considered upgrading their cell phones during the last few years. The built-in Chinese input method on smartphones relies mainly on the characteristics of touch screen. A general scenario is users pressing the individual keys on touch screen to enter Zhuyin(Phonetic Notation) and select words. In addition to the touch screen, many smartphones are now equipped with built-in gyroscope which can sense the angular velocity of the device. Currently the use of gyroscope is mostly on the motion-sensing application. However, combining the characteristics of touch screen and gyroscope to facilitate versatile interactive applications seem feasible. In this study, we developed a prototype to facilitate gyroscope-assisted input interface for Zhuyin input method in the Android system. The interface uses the built-in gyroscope as a tool to help users selecting word in the Zhuyin input process. The interface is designed to have six most popular candidate characters (Chinese words) arranged in three rows and two columns after the users entering the Zhuyin of the words. To make selection of these candidate words, users have to move (such as rotate and tilt) the smartphone to allow the gyroscope to sense the inclination angle to facilitate the users in selecting the desired words from the candidate words. We also developed software to record users’ input speed and error rate for evaluation. The first experiment has 30 subjects trial to compare the traditional touch screen virtual keyboard method and the gyro-assisted input method. The results show that the traditional method has higher input speed and low error rate. In order to assess whether subjects will enhance the input speed and reduce the error rate by familiarizing the gyro-assisted input method. Selected subjects were asked to have three consecutive days practice on gyro-assisted before the formal test. The result of the test showed that subjects have significant improvement in terms of the text input speed and error rate reduction. Thus the familiarity with gyro-assisted input method could be crucial in the applicability of our prototype.
